Community Living Arrangements
Community Living Arrangements provides 24-hour care in a residential setting for individuals with developmental disabilities. Five full-time staff at each of two sites in the Wellsboro area provide care for up to eight individuals per home. The goal of the program is to enhance each resident's daily living skills and help to facilitate their integration and participation in the community. Staff members work with residents on such skills as socialization, self administration of medication, banking and budgeting, menu planning, shopping, and meal preparation.
Family Living Arrangements
Offering an alternative to institutional care, Family Living Arrangements provides a residential setting in the community for individuals diagnosed with mental retardation.
Semi-Independent Living Program
Our Semi-independent Living Program helps to prepare individuals with developmental disabilities to reside successfully in the community. Individuals in this program may have transferred from our Community Living Arrangements program or resided with family or other caretakers. This program allows participants to test their skills while being assured that a staff person is nearby for support. Many program participants move on to residing in the community, usually as a participant in our Supported Living Program.
Supported Living Program
The Supported Living Program helps individuals with developmental disabilities learn to function independently in the community. Ten participants and their families receive staff support on an ongoing basis. Program participants reside in housing of their choice and each is financially responsible for maintaining it. Staff members assist with bill-paying, shopping, banking and budgeting, and socialization skills. Each participant's progress is closely monitored by staff members until the individual reaches the point where he or she no longer requires services and is able to live independently.
