Kate Place was recognized for excellence as Bradford-Tioga Head Start's Employee of the Year. Kate has been a Bradford-Tioga Head Start employee for 32 years. She is currently a teacher at the SAM 1 (Athens) classroom. This year, she accepted a position teaching in another Head Start classroom in addition to her own.
Kate is currently the lead facility person for a Head Start center site containing four classrooms. She deals with issues/concerns regarding the facility as well as overseeing the safety of the building. Her involvement with the Research Training Center project and collaboration with the Bradford County Regional Arts Council was exemplary. Kate worked closely with Mary Knysh and Fiona Powell to create music and storytelling opportunities for the children. She is currently a mentor for a new teacher, sharing her creativity and endless energy. |
