La-Sa Quik Residential Treatment
The mission of Laurel Youth Services is to provide safe, caring treatment environments for delinquent and dependent youths in both residential and community settings so that problems will be ameliorated, and each youth will have the opportunity to live up to his/her potential. This is accomplished by providing comprehensive programs using a variety of treatment modalities and staffed by trained, professional personnel who work with both the child and the family and whose overriding concern is with the welfare of each individual child in care.
Values and Beliefs:
1. We believe that every individual is of value and deserves the best opportunity to think well of themselves and the world in which they live.
2. We believe that each person must accept responsibility for their own actions.
3. We believe that all people can learn more about themselves, their environment, and their impact on that environment, and such knowledge provides opportunities to improve behavior which results in feeling better about one’s self.
4. We believe that people are most apt to be “successful” when they adhere to the laws of society and to accepted standards of conduct.
5. We believe that all individuals who are in our care should be treated with methods that are safe, humane, and caring
6. We believe that individuals learn self-discipline through structure, organization, and the utilization of various therapeutic techniques.
7. We believe that any individual may be a role model for youth. Therefore, we must conduct ourselves, at all times, with consideration for the norms of the community, within the framework of the law, and with consideration toward others.
Message from the Director:
The cornerstone of Laurel Youth Services programs has always been role-modeling and accountability, and to interact with youths in such a way that increases the likelihood for positive change to occur.
We recognize that we are not able to alleviate all the problems and pain in a youth’s life, but we believe that by giving them unconditional care, respect, and the proper tools, we can inspire them to begin to move in a positive direction.
We accomplish this through therapy, education, and supervision; but we firmly believe that it is the daily personal interaction between the youth and our staff that provides the tools and opportunities for lifelong impact.
