November 3—Join the fun and festivities or get a jumpstart on your Christmas shopping at the 8th annual Holiday Shopping Soirée! From 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Dunham’s Department Store will be open exclusively to soirée ticket holders. Ticket holders enjoy a 20 percent shopping discount, door prizes, hands-on craft and cooking demonstrations, delicious food, exciting entertainment, and free gift-wrapping! Tickets are $15, and ticket sale proceeds support the Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital auxiliary. November 5—The Community Blood Bank will hold a blood drive from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital's Board Room. No appointment is required, but you can make an appointment to donate if you’d prefer. Donors will be entered into a raffle to win a $25 grocery certificate to make Thanksgiving shopping a little easier! All are welcome to donate as long as it has been 56 days since your last donation, you weigh at least 110 pounds, and you are at least 17 years of age (16 with parental consent). November 13— Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital will hold a FREE Expectant Parents class from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the hospital Board Room entitled “Labor Preparation and Comfort Techniques.” Registration is not necessary; walk-ins are welcome! New parents will learn relaxation techniques, breathing exercises, and position changes to manage labor. This class is designed to enhance comfort during pregnancy and labor as well as to provide helpful suggestions for the mother’s support person. offering free memory screenings from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. as part of
National Memory Screening Day, a national initiative by the Alzheimer’s
Foundation of America. Appointments are not necessary; walk-ins

November 14—A one-day Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) re-certification class will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital Board Room. The course teaches RNs, physicians, and paramedics the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and manage the first 10 minutes of an adult ventricular fibrillation / ventricular tachycardia (VF/VT) arrest. November 26—Become a babysitting pro with Laurel Health's one-day babysitting
class from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pennsylvania
College of Technology-North Campus, located on Route 6 between Wellsboro
and Mansfield. The American Red Cross Babysitter's Training Course is
an exciting, hands-on learning experience that teaches 11- to
15-year-olds important role model and leadership skills, as well as
training in infant and child care. Students will learn about safety, problem-solving, effective communication, interviewing for babysitting positions, and emergency preparation, including how to handle illnesses, injuries, and household accidents. Sue Sticklin and Robin Flynn will serve as course instructors. A certificate of completion will be awarded. Participants will need to pack a lunch, including beverages. The course fee of $30 includes the participant manual and DVD. Pre-registration, including payment, is due no later than Wednesday,
November 21st. Space is limited to 15 students, and the class will fill
