WELLSBORO, PA—When residents at The Laurels play bingo, everyone wins—residents have been saving up their bingo prizes for the last six months to donate to the local Goodies For Our Troops organization.

Each time a resident won bingo, they had the option to take a prize or put their win toward a donation to Goodies For Our Troops. Using the funds raised, Laurels staff purchased snack crackers, peanuts, cookies, wet wipes, and other goods. On Monday, July 23, The Laurels Personal Care Home residents presented the various goodies to Dawn Pletcher, Goodies For Our Troops Founder.

The local food pantry and the Wellsboro Montessori Children's Center have also received donations from The Laurels residents, and the residents are now saving up bingo points for Second Chance Animal Sanctuary.

Goodies For Our Troops is a non-profit, non-affiliated organization that relies solely on donations. For the past eight years, the organization has delivered goods to troops from the Twin Tiers stationed abroad in Iraq and Afghanistan. All care packages are addressed to individual soldiers.

The Laurels is a personal care home that blends the services and security of traditional residential life with the pride and privacy of living in a personal apartment. The caring, nurturing environment is for individuals aged 62 and older who may need help with personal care, but still want to live independently. Trained, supportive staff is on hand 24 hours a day to ensure that all services are available whenever they are needed.
