Laurel Health System August 2012 Calendar of Events
Monday, August 6—Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital will host a local blood drive on from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Board Room. All are welcome to donate as long as it has been 56 days since your last donation, and you are at least 17 years of age (16 with parental consent). Donors will be entered into a drawing. If you have any questions about donating or would like to make an appointment to donate, call Gerard Doran at 723-0131 or gdoran@laurelhs.org or 1-877-842-0631 to talk to a CBB nurse.
Tuesday, August 14— Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital will hold a free Expectant Parents class from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Board Room. The class is entitled “Labor Preparation and Comfort Techniques.” The class is part of a cycle of classes, which addresses concerns of the expectant parents. Classes are not sequential, and participants may join at any time during the cycle. Registration is not necessary. Walk-ins are warmly welcomed. For more information, please call (570) 723-0375.
Thursday, August 16—The Better Breathers Club, a free support group for people with lung disease, will meet at 6:30 p.m. in Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital's Board Room. The instructor will be Carol Lee Ames, cardiopulmonary therapist. The group meets the third Thursday of each month. No registration is necessary; walk-ins welcome! Tuesday, August 21 & Wednesday, August 22—Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital presents “Linen World,” a brand new vendor selling high quality throws, towels, linens, and kitchen ware. High quality and comfort meet style and value with hundreds of items to choose from—all while shopping for a good cause; a portion of the proceeds supports Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital’s Auxiliary. The event will be held August 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and August 22 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, contact Faith Preston at (570) 723-0191.
Wednesday, August 22—A free bereavement support group meets from 10:30 a.m. to noon; please check the Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital lobby for room assignment.
