MORRIS, PA—On Monday, October 8, Charles Newlin, Pro-Am Committee Representative, presented Liberty Summer Recreation Coordinator Tom Jones and members of the Liberty Little League Team with a $1,000 check donation from Laurel Health.

The funds were raised during Laurel Health’s 2011 Pro-Am Golf Tournament and will be used to maintain the fields and purchase equipment and uniforms for the 100+ children ages 5 through 14 participating in Liberty Little League / summer programs.

Through outstanding community support, the LHS Pro-Am Golf tournament has raised more than $379,500 over the years to benefit thousands of children, allowing local students the opportunity to pursue healthcare careers on scholarship, and local recreation programs to utilize the funds to purchase necessary grounds upkeep, team uniforms, and much-needed equipment, ensuring they run safely and effectively. A committee reviews all requests, and funds are awarded based on need.

Recreational organizations in Tioga County interested in applying for money raised at the 2012 tournament should contact the Laurel Health System Development Office at (570) 723-0494.
