WELLSBORO, PA—Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital invites the public to celebrate the completion of its new Same Day Surgery unit on Sunday, November 18 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. with guided tours of the facility and refreshments.
During the open house, attendees will tour the new patient rooms, endoscopy suite, nurses’ stations, infusion/transfusion station, isolation room, registration and expanded waiting room. Staff will be on hand to demonstrate state-of-the-art technology and specialty equipment as well as to answer any questions the public might have about the new addition.
The hospital expansion project was announced in fall of 2009 as a necessary step for meeting the increasing volumes of emergency department admissions and construction broke ground on May 4, 2010. The first floor houses the new Emergency Department, which opened on January 10, 2012, and the second floor houses a new Same Day Surgery unit, which will officially go into service on Monday, November 19.
“The community has been a vital part of this project from day one,” added Jan Fisher, President & CEO of Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital and new Chief Operating Officer and EVP for Susquehanna Health. “This expansion was conceived with the community’s growing medical needs in mind, and our community has watched with us as construction reached each exciting milestone. We want the public to see firsthand how their support has helped us grow as we celebrate the expansion’s completion.”
