WELLSBORO, PA— Laboratory scientists and technicians are behind the scenes of most medical detective work, and National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week (NMLPW), April 18-24, is a time to honor these professionals. This year’s theme is “Laboratory Professionals Get Results.” Each year, the laboratory professionals of Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital perform thousands of tests that provide results to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The clinical laboratory scientists, pathologist, and technicians working in Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital’s laboratory services use cutting-edge technology and analysis to achieve results that lead to solutions.
While the idea of a laboratory may conjure images of dark experiments, test tubes full of unknown chemicals, and the bubbling beakers of television mysteries, today’s laboratories are far from entertainment fiction. The professionals that work in laboratories are highly educated and trained scientists working with advanced, computerized instrumentation to analyze thousands of human samples.
More than 280,000 medical laboratory professionals across the nation perform and interpret laboratory tests that save lives and keep people healthy.
“As the staff of Soldiers + Sailors laboratory celebrate their special week, we would like to thank the people of Tioga County and other Laurel Health System services for their support and use of our services,” says Gerard Doran, Director of Laboratory Services. “We look forward to continuing to provide the laboratory results that help make a difference in preserving your good health.”
