WELLSBORO, PA—Summertime isn’t complete without a slice of watermelon, but The Green Home residents recently put their creativity to the test as they sliced-and-diced watermelon in a whole new way—a carving contest! Staff helped residents bring funny, fantastical, and fresh ideas to life.
Residents carved and decorated each watermelon with yarn, glitter, and other crafts. Designs included owls, dragons, ducks, a baby in a bassinet, sail boats, and an Olympic-themed entry. Prizes were awarded for originality, creativity, craftsmanship, and humor.
The contest was part of a host of activities held at The Green Home, a nonprofit, skilled nursing home providing both short-term rehabilitation services and long-term care services for residents of Tioga County and the surrounding communities. Located in downtown Wellsboro, TGH offers around-the-clock professional nursing services; rehabilitation services including speech, occupational, and physical therapy; medical social work and counseling services; nutrition services; podiatry services; radiology services; dentistry; and a variety of activities and recreational programs.
