Many surgical procedures are performed on a same-day basis, and patients may return home just hours after surgery.

Videoscopic Surgery
A revolutionary method of performing major abdominal surgery, videoscopic surgery offers patients smaller incisions, less postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays, and a faster recovery. Several types of videoscopic surgery are performed at SSMH:

• Nissen fundoplication (for treatment of chronic heartburn)
• Videoscopically assisted hysterectomy
• Cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal)
• Hernia repair
• Appendectomy
• Bowel resection

In addition, the following procedures are also performed videoscopically at SSMH:

• Gynecological surgery, including ovarian cystectomy, treatment of endometriosis, and fertility evaluation
