| Laurel Health System
was created in 1989 through the affiliation of Soldiers + Sailors
Memorial Hospital (SSMH) and North Penn Comprehensive Health Services
(North Penn), a consolidation which resulted in a multifaceted system
of health and human services, strengthened and unified under one umbrella.
Initially, this system was comprised of SSMH and North Penn plus three
other affiliates: SSMH Memorial Service Volunteers, Laurel Realty,
and Laurel Management Services. In 1991, the Green Home, a long-term
care facility in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, became the sixth LHS affiliate.
In 1997, Laurel Health System affiliates and their separate boards
of directors were consolidated to create one, unified board which
now oversee all LHS operations. As part of this consolidation, LHS
services were restructured and integrated through seven new management
components to help us provide our communities with the most cost-effective,
efficient service possible. Today, the LHS service network includes:
- Acute care services
at Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital.
- Six Laurel Health
Centers providing primary care to the people of Tioga County.
- Long-term care at
The Green Home, a skilled nursing facility.
- The Laurels, an assisted living complex, provides care for individuals who are not able to live independently.
- Laurel Wellness Centers
offering a focus on preventative health measures.
